Re: CAKE MIXES AND TOXIN

I don't know if this will help ease the fear, but here's the latest article from Kellene Bishop. :-)

Re: What did you do to prep this week?

Put together some "Dinner is in the Jar" meals. Man, I love that book. I have a feeling some of these will end up being Christmas presents.

Re: I Hate Food Storage

@ twodogs
I didn't write the article so don't look for my feelings to get hurt. ;)

Kellene Bishop runs the Preparedness Pro website and give classes on preparedness. It's one of, if not my favorite, site to go to.

I Hate Food Storage

I Hate Food Storage I do. I really do. In fact you’ll rarely hear me use those two words together in my home. Food storage is 50 pound bags of dusty, weevil-infested wheat, stale rice, and rock hard beans that I would never eat in a million years. Food storage is exploding cans of tomatoes, ferment...

Video Seminar

These videos are very informative! They're a bit "primitive" as far as video and audio quality, but content-wise, I give them a thumbs up! Grab a cup of tea or coffee, a notebook, get comfy and LEARN. http://letusprepare.blogspot.com/2009/01/wendy-dewitt-food-storage-seminar.html :) XOXO L...

Re: What did you do to prep this week?

In a world with out chocolate they would be worth more than gold. Never knew they would last so long. Me either! I learned about it from a Wendy Dewitt seminar on YouTube and from Kellene Bishop over at Preparedness Pro. Kellene "cans" M & Ms and Snickers bars. MMMMMmmmm The...

Re: What did you do to prep this week?

"Canned" some Hershey bars. Yup. Used my FoodSaver to can up 20 full size Hershey bars in 4 quart size jars. I think I'll put up Hershey Kisses next so I can fill up the jars all the way. I used regular mouthed jars, but I think I'd be able to fit more than 5 bars if I had wide mout...

Re: 23 Ingenious Uses for White Vinegar

I use white vinegar all the time. I buy it by the gallon. It's GREAT for all kinds of cleaning and making things smell better. Sure it's kinda stinky at first, but once it dries, it's much better.

Re: What did you do to prep this week?

Harvested TWO BUSHELS of tomatoes! Not bad for a little backyard plot! I've got more still coming on too. Yay!

STUPID BISCUITS!!

I wish once, JUST ONCE I could make a good biscuit! GRRRRR I'm a good cook, really! I can make all kinds of stuff -- good stuff!! I actually used to cater parties with a fried of mine, I'm talking 200+ people parties too! And yet, still I am totally unable to make something as simple as a stupid bis...

Re: We Pickin, Are You?

Mine are heirlooms started from seeds. I wonder if they take longer? Mine are all heirlooms started from seed too. My aunt says it takes longer although, I don't know why it would. I cut up my first 2 Cherokee Purple tomatoes lat night and today and they are FABULOUS! I will definitely be planting ...

Re: dehydrating food.

My kids go through a lot of oranges. I've been cutting the pith off the peels and drying the peels. They are AWESOME in tea! I also powdered some of them. I'm planning on making quite a bit of tomato powder this year because it adds so much flavor to sauces without making them too runny.
