Mylar Bags

Postby Good Life » Thu Dec 10, 2009 7:20 pm

Does anyone use the smaller 10x14 gallon size mylar bags for storage? If so, where do you get them and what seems to be a fair price? I found them on FrugalSquirrel.com for $23 for 25 bags or $150 for 250 bags (though that's way more than I need at this point.) So far, I've used the 5-6 gallon bucket sized bags, but want to store smaller quantities of some items.

Wendymae has 250 bags for $150.
Or 25 bags for $23.

This place sells the same size for 87 cents each.

I would, theoretically, be interesting into buying and splitting up a bundle of 250bags if others were interested. My total shipped cost, divided by the number of bags, and assuming we either work out shipping from me to you, or arrange a pickup. I would be looking doing it sometime around March and would want 25 bags for myself. Obviously I pay my tenth of the cost out of my pocket. This was something that I had been contemplating for myself, and spending $15 instead of $25 makes good sense.

Before we really talk too much about this, I think that we need to get the okay from the moderator, and then decide the appropriate way to handle it.

Please feel free to split shipments among yourselfs. We do it all the time here. Just work out payment betwen you two or three or five.

Just a note on the small mylar bags. The LDS Catalog has them at $94 for 150 bags (free shipping) and the bags are 7-mil thick. It is worth a look before you pull the trigger to purchase Wendy Mae's bags.

I bought 25 bags from Wendy Mae. I do want to get more and would be very interested in splitting up a larger order. What part of KY are you in Jim?

I would be happy to order the mylar bags on my account at LDS.

Anyone else interested in getting these smaller mylar bags? How many? And where are you located? I live in louisville and could ship some out if you pay the shipping along with the cost of the bags.

250 bags are $94.

Id be willing to take 20 bags, more if that is what is needed to get the ball rolling. I am doing this all cash, so I have to wait until the first of the month. If that causes an issue, then I will wait.

Post what you want by 2/18...I'll order 2/19

Postby andrew » Thu Feb 11, 2010 4:01 pm

Thanks guys for helping to split the shipment. I am going to keep this open until Thursday February 18th. I'll enter the order on Friday February 19th. Please consider if you want oxygen absorbers for your bags. They are the size suitable for the mylar bags that I am ordering (I'll probably order 200 absorbers). We will work out payment after I get the delivery.
Thanks! :D

Hello guys, Let me know before I order tomorrow morning the 19th, say around 6am,if you would like some of the 250 mylar bags that I am ordering.

So far I have:
jim in ky: 20 bags (about $7.96)
Insidethebunker $20 worth
Good Life $20 worth
Veggieboy $20 worth

I am expecting to pay $94 + sales tax(6%) for 250 bags ($99.67) that is 39.8 cents per bag. Currently, this leaves me with about 75 bags (and I am cool with that).

Thanks!
