Shotguns

Postby KYPATRIOT » Tue Dec 08, 2009 10:24 pm

Was just wondering what is everyones favorite shotgun. I have single shots, bolt action, pumps, and double barrells. The singles I busy tail hunt with, the pumps I turkey hunt with along with ducks or birds. The doubles I rabbitt hunt with. Most of my shotguns are 12 gauge. I keep one of the doubles next to my bed, it is a coach gun, along with a 1911 45 pistol. I have had some autos in the past but got rid of them as I think they malfunction too much for me.

Can't beat a Remington 870. I mainly prefer 12 gauge.

My favorite type as strange as it might seem and my taste in firearms is a cheapo single shot break down shotgun, like the NEF ones you get at wal-mart for under a hundred bucks. That is my favorite hunting shotgun. When it comes to home defense or such is hard to beat a 870 matthiasj said. This is my personal choices.

I prefer the Winchester Model 1200 pump action 12 guage. Just about all of my shotguns are 12gauge. I prefer the 12 gauge because of it's stopping power. And for home defense a good 12 gauge is hard to beat. But any shotgun will do if the shooter knows how to use it.

I like the Mossberg 590 series as it suits me well due to the safety position :) Don't think there is a wrong answer though!

1) Walmart still sells guns at many of them in Indiana, not sure in Kentucky.

2) 2 years ago I got a Mossberg 500 Field/Deer Combo, 12ga, with scope. It has the two barrels and a scope (not that the scope is worth anything) It is normally on sale at Dicks for $270 a few times a year. My thinking is this one gun gave me both dear hunting and fowl hunting in one gun.. for one price. So far I've only had it out to the range a few times and 1 quail hunt. I'd say it's done ok but I've notice the action is a little tight, like it needs to be broken in. Since I've probably only put 30 rounds through it that might be the case. Need to get in a routine of skeet shooting this year. Used to do it with my son but haven't in years.

The Wal-Mart in Madisonville, KY still sells guns. There are a few there and there that do still sell. Skeet shooting is a lot of fun.

The Walmart in Hillview sells guns, and I think the one in Fern Creek does too, but i may be wrong as I go to a lot of different Walmarts, but Hillview for sure.
