Postby KYPATRIOT » Wed Jan 06, 2010 2:03 am

Just watched the show on the history channel tonight, it shows what may happen in a shtf situation. I thought it was pretty interesting. Anyone else see it? If you did what did you think about it?

n-1-i watched had a few problems with it over the way the guy died at the end of the show who was the emt ..if they where makeing moonshine then he could have used the home brew whiskey to clean out the wound and keep it clean ..
n-2- was the sheriff handle the looter..i would have killed them but not intill they got there day in court that afternoon ..then i would shot them for the looting of the store.
n-3-was the church thing where everyone had to go to church and listen to someone else way of thinking in there little group of people..

but other was it was a good two hour show ..that my two cents..

I also didnt like how the guy didnt get out his pistol untill they were going to move out of the area, lets see there were looters all around and he dosent even have it out to protect his family. I think they made the water and electric stay on too long especially the water. I did like the idea of how he tried to make the house look like it had already been looted, that is somthing that folks may want to do. I didnt think it was realistic that looters were next door and they had the laterns lit but the looters dont see this?

Sorry I didn't get to see it. I was watching the Apocolypse Man and am now watching "The Conspiracy Theory" with Jesse Ventura. It's also very interesting and factual about our government and what they're doing behind the scenes. If our nation continues down the path it's on, and I think it will, I truly believe we are headed for some situations such as we're seeing on the tv lately. We've got our home prepared for such an event and are prepared to defend it. But we are also prepared to Bug Out if necessary. We live out in the country and our neighbors are not real close. We're hoping that will help us some. We've also got some good watch dogs that always warn us when someone starts up our 650 foot driveway. And we ordered some of the MURS radios and a couple of sensors that call our radios with an alert signal when they detect motion. Small animals won't set off the sensors but large animals and people will. They are great.

This movie/documentary is a enjoyable survival story. I was able to view it last night on YouTube. My DW reiterated that we needed a couple of AK's and lots of ammo. I'm sure a prepper would enjoy this movie (or any gun-toting, identity-oriented, conservative survival type for that matter.)

The Armageddon video is in 9 parts (about 10 min each), this is the link to part one, you will see the other parts to click on to watch the entire movie on the Internet:

Gosh Andrew I cant believe she said that about the AKs, probaly thought you were in the twilight zone, or the pod people of the body snatchers replaced her lol, I think it is a good show for non preppers too. Gives them some thought about hey we should have some food, water, weapons ect. On a side note I have been really pushing The KY Preppers Forum to a lot of people lately have seen that some have joined. We all need to help educate others about prepping and our site, every person that starts to take care of thierselfs is another friend and one less potential casualty.

Oh, yea, what really made me think was she was still talking about it today. She was saying we need a BOL outside the city. Her suggestions were a bit far fetched...(like we need a BOL near one of the coal-fired power plants in KY??? "Hmm, Honey, that's worth looking into.") But, it got her thinking and maybe we can come up with some practical ideas that will work.

Don't all the ladies like automatic weapons? Unfortunately, too many people think that you just pull the trigger and all the bad guys go down like dominos without you running out of bullets (just like in the movies). We both need to shoot our little hand guns and a home defense shotgun proficiently before we get an AK and 20,000 rounds.

You can go to (thesurvivalpodcast.com) and he has a link for MURS Radios. They are a special type of walkie talkie type radio. The sensors, they sell will send a signal to the radios saying "Alert Zone One". And you can use more than one sensor for more than one area and set each one to say a different zone. Such as "Alert Zone One" or "Alert Zone Two" etc. I have some in use now. Been using them for about 3 months now and they work great. I have one in front of my root cellar. One can be used at the end of my driveway. One can be used in the back of my property, etc. That way we can be sitting in the house any time day or night and if a large animal or person moves in front of the sensor, we get the alert on the radio we have on in the house. The sensors will pick up movement up to 80 feet away day or night. I have 16 acres and 4 sensors give me plenty of protection notice. I plan to order more to use and some for backup. I would highly reccommend them to anyone that is wanting security. And the radios can be used for communication also. They have a base station and also have handheld radios. I've only got the handheld ones myself. But everything works fine. And the people at MURS Radios are great to work with. Check them out.

Here in Hart County we've used them up to about 1 1/2 miles. They work really well and I'm sure in level country they would do even better. But as for us, it will be me and my wife using them. And to be honest, in a SHTF situation I don't want her that far away from me. We've got 16 acres here and I figure they'll do just fine. And the motion detectors are positioned anywhere from 300 ft to 700 ft from the house and they are fantastic.

So I watched this last night. Remembering that it is fiction, I think they portrayed it pretty well. It really brings home the fact that we NEED to prepare. A 3 month supply of food, water, batteries, lights, and guns to defend it is a MUST for everyone. If the time comes we gotta hunker down in our own homes we need to have those provisions ready; especially in the city.
